Some android vendors use aggressive battery saving policies that prevent applications from running in background and displaying notifications. This can cause notifications to stop working after a while or never show at all.
First, make sure you enabled notifications for our app, you can check more on that here: https://claritasmindsciences.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115010453348
Next, check that your app and phone battery settings are not stopping our app from running in the background. This process is not specific to our apps and will differ from vendor to vendor. Please check the links below, if your device is made by one of these companies:
NOTE: In case your device is not listed, you can look for the following in your menu:
Settings > Apps > Our app > Battery > Battery optimization - make sure the app is not optimized.
Huawei:
- Phone settings > Advanced Settings > Battery manager > Power plan is set to Performance
- Phone Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery Manager > Protected apps – check for our app as Protected
- Phone Settings > Apps > our app > Battery > Power-intensive prompt [x] and Keep running after screen off [x]
- Phone settings > Apps > Advanced (At the bottom) > Ignore optimisations > Press Allowed > All apps > Find our app on the list and set to Allow

- Go to Phone settings > Apps > See all apps.
- Tap on the right top corner menu > Show system.
- Find Battery protection app in the list, select it and Force close. It will
- remain stopped until the next restart. From now on, background apps should work
- normally and use the standard Android battery optimizations.

- Turn off System Settings > Apps > Gear Icon > Special Access > Battery Optimization.
Warning: Recent OnePlus updates revert this change randomly.
If you stop seeing notifications make sure the isn't the case.
One way to minimize this is to set the app as locked in the `Recent App` list.
To lock the app, start the app you want to ‘Protect’.
Press the phone Recent app button.
Toggle the Lock button on the upper right corner of the app.
- Phone settings > Battery > Battery optimization and switch to the All apps list (Top menu) > Our app > Don’t optimize

- optimization. This option may also be called Advanced optimisation.
Samsung:
Galaxy S8 and later:
You will have to whitelist the app in App Power Monitor:
- Open the Settings > Device maintenance > Battery
- at the bottom you’ll see a list of your most frequently used apps.
- Scrolling all the way to the very bottom you’ll find Unmonitored apps.
These are apps that you specifically want to exclude (whitelist).

delete apps from the list.

Android Pie (version 9)
There is a special option in
- Settings > Apps > Our app > Advanced > Battery > Background restrictions.
- Make sure its not restricted or it may prevent notifications.
Pie and pre-Pie (version 8 and before)
Overall it is a good idea to make our app not battery optimized to ensure it gets the freedom it needs to perform in the background.
For that:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Our App > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
- Change view to All apps
- Search for your app
- Choose Not optimized
Also, make sure Settings > Apps > Our app > Advanced > Battery > Background limitations is not enabled.
Xiaomi:
On Power management please enable:
- Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery manager > Power plan is set to Performance
- Device Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery Manager > Protected apps – our app needs to be Protected
- Device Settings > Apps > our app > Battery > Power-intensive prompt and Keep running after screen off
- Settings > Additional Settings > Battery & Performance > Manage apps’ battery usage and here, to Switch Power Saving Modes to Off Choose the next options:
- Saving Power in The Background > Choose apps > select our app > Background Settings > No restrictions
On App battery saver
- Security > Battery > App Battery Saver > our app > No restriction
Autostart
- Open Security app > Permissions > Auto-start Enable Autostart for our app.
App pinning
- When you open recent apps tray, drag our app downwards and it will be locked, or press and hold the app until a menu appears and you can click the lock.
- So even if you clear recent apps it will not clear our app from the background.
- repeat the same process to unlock our app from the background.
